During its May meeting, Greater Shepparton City Council announced two contracts had been awarded to local businesses, Mawson Constructions and Preston’s Turf and Garden.
Preston’s Turf and Garden received a $377,565 contract to beautify Edgewater Estate Creek Reserve in Kialla.
The plans include adding lush garden beds, planting trees and installing street furniture such as seats, tables, benches and rubbish bins, along a newly laid asphalt path.
This project will enrich the creek reserve and integrate it into the council’s existing path network.
On the other side of town, Mawson Constructions secured a $235,189 contract to extend the shared path network in Shepparton North’s Lauriston Estate.
The path will run within the road reserve in front of St Luke’s Catholic Primary School, from Providence Estate to Grace Rd.
The project aims to create a safe passage for residents, particularly St Luke’s students, with a 2.5-metre wide, 350-metre long concrete path connecting homes to the school.
Works will also include site clearing, minor fencing, guard rail works and signage.
Mayor Shane Sali said both projects were important to the development and connectivity of the region.
“We look forward to seeing these works get under way, and we have no doubt the community will benefit from the completion,” he said.
“Both projects provide further safety measures and convenience when travelling within Greater Shepparton.”
