These free events, held in Shepparton East and Tallygaroopna, aim to connect neighbours, strengthen local connections and increase awareness of community planning in the local areas.
The first movie night will take place on Friday, March 28 at the Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve, and the second on Thursday, April 3 at Shepparton East Primary School oval.
Activities will begin at 6pm, with movies starting at 7pm.
The Barbie movie will be shown in Tallygaroopna, while Sing 2 will be screened in Shepparton East.
There will be a free barbecue and giant games at Shepparton East, with fish and chips available for purchase at the Tallygaroopna Recreation Reserve Pavilion, along with giant games.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali encouraged residents to get involved in the events.
“These movie nights are a fantastic way for residents to connect in a fun, welcoming environment,” Cr Sali said.
“We are proud to support these events and encourage everyone to come along and enjoy them with family and friends."
Cr Geoff Akers highlighted the positive impact local events had on smaller towns.
“Community movie nights really bring smaller communities to life,” he said.
“They help locals get to know each other better, encourage friendships between neighbours and give everyone a reason to relax, unwind and have fun close to home.”
Both events are supported by council’s Community Planning Implementation Fund, which gives community planning groups the opportunity to apply for funding to progress community-led initiatives.
