Rob Foran has been appointed manager after Sheridan Clark resigned following seven years in the role and is looking for the next challenge in her life.
Already a high-profile community contributor — Mr Foran is also president of Echuca Rotary — he says taking over the reins from Ms Clark is both exciting and making him a little nervous.
“By any stretch of the imagination, running a project like this for the community at such an up close and personal level is a huge responsibility,” Mr Foran said.
“Sheridan leaves us with the admiration and love of the Crossenvale community, she invested a lot of herself into the house and we wish her every success in the future,.
“It is my plan to pick up where she has left off, and continue to create interesting, meaningful ways for Crossenvale residents to engage with their community.
“But we want everyone to feel welcome here, to us everyone is a local.”
Apart from his work with service clubs and the community, Mr Foran had previously worked in the education and justice spaces, before making the move into the community development sector.
He said Crossenvale Community House offers food assistance, art and social activities, informal learning opportunities and employment support and much more.
“We do everything, from something as simple and as welcoming as sharing coffees, to preparing cover letters for job seekers, and even creating a community garden,” Mr Foran said.
“CCH welcomes people of all backgrounds, cultures and beliefs to make use of the brilliant community space we have,” he said.
“We also welcome anyone willing to donate some of their spare time to join us as a volunteer — if you’ve got a green thumb, see yourself as the next MasterChef or you have a passion for art and/or music, we want to hear from you.
“Ditto for sports enthusiasts and administrative gurus (and lots of other skills) to join our team of volunteers and committee members.
“It’s amazing how much difference this kind of contributing can make to your own life, as well as the lives of many others.”
Mr Foran said training and other upskilling is provided once pre-volunteer checks have been completed.
