Mooroopna, Murchison East and Nagambie stations now have longer platforms to suit modern VLocity trains, touted as more reliable, which are set to start travelling to and from Shepparton later this year.
Community events will be held at all three stations, with free food and entertainment from local businesses.
Victorian Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan said the upgrades paved the way for bigger and more modern trains.
“It’s fantastic to see three brand new station upgrades delivered as part of the (Shepparton line upgrade),” she said.
“We look forward to welcoming the community to the Mooroopna, Murchison East and Nagambie stations over the coming weeks to celebrate the completion of these station upgrades.”
The stations also have improved access with asphalted car parks fitted with lighting and CCTV.
The next stage of the upgrade will see a new walking and cycling path at Mooroopna station between the station entrance and the existing footpath along Young St, equipped with lighting and safety fencing.
Young St pedestrians and cyclists will cross the train line at a new crossing featuring gates that automatically lock when trains approach.
These works are part of stage three of the project, which will also deliver signalling and track upgrades to allow nine daily services on the line and faster journeys.
Stage three was due to be completed in late 2023.
On Friday, September 2, the event at Nagambie station is on from 10am to noon and the Murchison East station event will follow from 4pm to 6pm.
The Mooroopna station celebration is on Saturday, September 3, from 10am to noon.
