Recently members of the Yarrawonga Lions Club presented Lauren and Dean Holgate from Lake Mulwala Bakery with the Lions District V6 Chris August Award.
The Lions District 20IV6 Chris August Memorial Award honours outstanding service to the local community and is dedicated to the memory of Charter President Chris August, recognized as the founder and father of Lions Clubs in Northeast Victoria and Southern New South Wales.
Lauren and Dean have been dedicated sponsors of the Lions weekly KHub BBQ, significantly contributing to the club's activities.
Every Saturday morning without fail, they provide freshly baked rolls and sliced bread to use. They consistently contribute to special events and have offered to cater for volunteers at the soon to visit Lions Skin Cancer Van.
The Lions weekly KHub BBQ is staffed by local groups who receive the month's profits. Some of these groups include Yarrawonga Table Tennis, Yarrawonga Scouts, Local CFA, Helping Hands, Friends in Common, and Pioneer Museum.
This initiative allows both the Lions Club and Mulwala Bakery to give back to the community, something Lauren and Dean are always eager to support.
Thank you for all the support you have given the Lions club and the wider community.

Inner Wheel generous support to Friends in Common
Members of Yarrawonga/Mulwala Inner Wheel present members of Friends in Common a generous $2,000 donation.
Members of Friends in Common recently attended an Inner Wheel meeting to express gratitude for the club's generous $2,000 donation to their organisation.
Yarrawonga/Mulwala Inner Wheel, part of an international women's friendship club founded in Manchester, UK in 1924, has been making a significant difference for nearly a century. The club improves lives by fundraising for local charities, global causes, and vital cord blood research.
Treasurer of Friends in Common Chris Gardner said that this generous donation from Inner Wheel will go directly to local clients who are undergoing cancer treatment providing them with fuel vouchers and accommodation.
“We do not receive any government grants, and we rely entirely on the generous support of our local community,” Ms Gardner said.
“We are a small group of volunteers who are there for our individual clients emotionally as well as providing them with fuel vouchers and accommodation.
“We are constantly fundraising so receiving this generous donation from Inner Wheel is so much appreciated,” she said.
For those interested in volunteering with Friends in Common or seeking assistance, please contact Ro on 0497 689 027. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of local cancer patients.
