Fact and fiction combine in this stirring family saga set against shifting landscapes and pivotal moments in Australian history.
Lillian was born in 1892, the same year Henry Lawson wrote The Drover's Wife and cemented his place in Australia's literary history. When Lillian reads the short story as a teenager, she is convinced that it is based upon her own family and becomes determined to prove it.
As the years pass, the truth becomes more problematic, and Lillian must decide what is more important: holding onto the past or embracing the future.
Born in Adelaide as the daughter of German immigrants, Kyra Geddes spent her infancy in the South Australian opal fields before moving to Sydney.
Following a successful career in marketing, Kyra returned to university to study English and pursue her life-long dream of writing, publishing two short stories and earning the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence.
The Story Thief is her debut novel, and the culmination of almost a decade of research and writing.

Yarrawonga Lions keeping busy
At the fortnightly Yarrawonga Lions meeting last Tuesday, President Don McPhee presented FoodShare’s Peter Ornsby with the latest donation, supporting this fantastic community group.
The club purchased $1,000 in Woolworths vouchers which will enable FoodShare to purchase items they need in their shop front, which in turn will be passed on to those in need in our community.
Yarrawonga Lions are very proud to serve the community.
Record numbers for town garage sale
The Yarrawonga Lions 4th Town Garage sale was held over the weekend with a record number of houses taking part.
A total of 37 properties registered and paid the $20 fee which will be donated to the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation.
With the change in weather there were plenty of bargain hunters travelling from Albury, Shepparton, Wodonga, Wangaratta, Glenrowan Corowa, Myrtleford, Tocumwal, Chiltern just to name a few, who collected the maps and listings and went in search of the blue and yellow balloons.
The maps were given out at 7:15am and to say it was a stampede was an understatement.a record number of houses taking part.
More exits were needed from the Showgrounds, or traffic lights.
Once again, a gold coin was paid, and this was added to the coffers with an anticipated donation totally around $1,000.
This year the club had repeat participates, proving the popularity of this annual event. Lions would like to thank the community for opening their garages and bringing tourists into Yarrawonga.
