Cobram Bendigo Bank personal banker Lizette Mezenberg said the team at the bank held an Easter raffle each year to bring ‘’something fun to the community’’.
“Incorporations rely on community donations to keep operating. We will donate to those who support the Cobram Bendigo Bank,” she said.
“It’s the best part of my job.”
Cobram SES controller Wendy Tucknott said they relied heavily on community fundraising for extra lifesaving and training equipment, to provide the latest support to the community.
“The Cobram SES appreciates the kind efforts of the Cobram Bendigo Bank. We thank all the members of the public for buying tickets which helps us out,” she said.
Sixteen businesses participated including Woolworths, IGA, GIfts and Essentials, Blush Beauty, Floral Love, Cobram Florist and Gifts, Mentha’s, D’Vine Ideas, Zen Soul, Unique Womenswear, Cobram Newsagency, Cobram Outdoor, Cobram Cinema, Noonan’s Showcase Jewellers, Cobram Photographics, Bakers Delight and Central Pub.
“All prizes included chocolate eggs donated by Cobram Woolworths and IGA. The team at Cobram then attended local businesses to see if they wanted to donate a gift certificate or item to our raffle,” Ms Mezenberg said.
The donated goods were then distributed between 16 different raffle prizes.
More than 300 people bought tickets at $2 each or three for $5, with the raffle drawn on on April 13.
Ms Mezenberg said the bank was ready to assist if an organisation would like to help them raise money.
The bank has previously held Mother’s Day and Father’s Day raffles, as well as raising money for Daffodil Day and taken part in the IGA fun day.
Ms Tucknott said the SES was always looking for businesses to support it and with the new headquarters going ahead, it would appreciate all the help it could get.
“Our next project is to buy our rescue truck and a second four-wheel drive. With the new headquarters we will be recruiting to fill a shortage of membership,” she said.
