If so, volunteering to assist in the organising of the Cobram Agricultural Show is for you.
The show’s committee is a 15-to-20 strong group of Moira Shire individuals who help organise the annual show from the early stages to final execution.
The committee is on the lookout for volunteers to assist them and learn the ropes of this beloved yearly event.
Cobram Agricultural Show secretary Heidi French is urging anyone with an interest to step forward.
“Anyone who is willing to put up their hands and give it a go is most welcome,” she said.
Mrs French said volunteers need not have any agricultural background as there were multiple roles that required filling.
“Volunteers are able to work in different show sections including beef, dairy, arts and craft just to name a few,” Mrs French said.
The show’s committee members meet the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm to plan and organise for the agricultural event, which runs in October.
Though volunteering may sound daunting, Mrs French said the committee only asked volunteers to help when and where they could.
As for what volunteers get out of being part of the show’s committee Mrs French said it was chance to give back to the community and learn new skills in a warm, welcoming environment.
“Volunteers get a sense of community spirit as they help run the show. Without the community involvement the show just simply wouldn’t be able to run,” she said.
“Volunteering has been a joy and I have gotten to meet a lot of people I would never have met elsewhere. Not just in the community but also in the region.”
The Cobram Agricultural Show Annual General Meeting sits on Tuesday, March 7, at 7pm at the Cobram Showgrounds.
