The Wingates Intersport on Bank St in Cobram’s CBD was ram-raided on the morning of Tuesday, April 1.
The police assistance line was notified around 2.30am that two people had reversed an SUV into the front display of the store, before stealing up to $2000 worth of clothing and driving away.
Cobram police officers attended the scene around 4am.
Police are yet make any arrests and investigations are continuing.
Police confirmed the SUV was not the same vehicle as the one used in a string of alleged burglaries across Moira Shire since January, including the alleged burglary of a bakery in Numurkah on March 25.
In relation to the alleged Numurkah bakery burglary, a 25-year-old male from the Shepparton area was arrested by police and faces a charge of burglary.
The man was released pending a summons at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court.
The raid at the Intersport store comes amid increased calls for a 24-hour police presence in Cobram.
