“I love Woods Point. They’re very good to me,” she told the Yarrawonga Chronicle. On turning the magical three figures, she said: “I don’t feel any different. I can’t believe I’m 100.”
“Being happy” is her recipe for a long life. “I had a good mother and father, a lovely husband.”
Clarice and Edward (Ted) were married for 65 years before Ted, a printer by trade who served in World War 2 and worked his way up to being a supervisor in the SEC, passed away at age 91 years.
They met at dance in Elsternwick. “He said he saw me in this blue frock and said ‘I’m going to marry you”, and I said ‘You can’t, I’m engaged”.
But Ted got his way, the rest is history. The happy couple had two children, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Daughter Loraine Stone of Yarrawonga described her mother as wonderful and a terrific grandmother. Son Terry Burt of Morong near Bendigo said his Mum was great.
A group of 15 shared a special 100th birthday luncheon with Clarice in ClubMulwala’s Endeavour Room, with lots of birthday cards, including one from King Charles and Camilla, and plenty of cake!
