The public event on Christmas Day each year provides those in need with a free lunch and company.
Christmas for Those Alone president Dave Hession said the event was impossible to run without enough committee members and volunteers.
“Unfortunately, this year, we lost our kitchen co-ordinator and four other committee members that helped make the lunch possible,” he said.
“I have been a part of the committee for 10 years, so heading into Christmas and delivering the news to the community of its cancellation is heartbreaking.
“There is so much time, human resources, expertise, and paperwork that goes into making it all possible, and without the members, it’s just not going to happen.
“We are focusing on getting the right people on board for next year.”
Last year’s Christmas lunch saw more than 220 people attend the annual event; in previous years, there have been up to 400.
“We understand that many people have prior commitments, so finding the right people can be quite hard,” Mr Hession said.
“We are looking for community-minded people with a big heart to come onboard for next year.
“There is a treasurer position available, and we need people with a background in the food industry or a food handler’s certificate.
“In the meantime, we apologise, wish everyone a merry and safe Christmas and thank everyone for their support over the years — we sincerely hope it will be back up and running next Christmas.”
