“It's great to speak to the student leaders and give them a few words congratulating them,” he said.

“I think people generally criticise the youth of today, but when you come and do this, you see how great the kids are and what they’re doing. There are some really great contributors here.”
At the assembly, he presented Zach and Tilly with a letter each, congratulating them and asking them questions about the coming year.
“I think it’s going to be an exciting year,” Tilly said.
“Originally, I was going to help my friend to do it, but that didn’t work out, and instead, I did. I really wanted to learn about leadership, public speaking, and leading my peers."
Zach shared similar sentiments about the year to come.
"I’m looking forward to learning about different experiences from people and to meet other school leaders too,” he said.
Principal Kevin Sourgen said they were both exemplary students and that he was glad to have them represent the school as leaders.
“Zach and Tilly are two wonderful young students. They show care and compassion to other students, respect to staff members and other students as well,” he said.
“They've just got that spark in them. They stand up when the time is right. They’re not just swayed by others, and they have all the good hallmarks of a good leader.
“I think developing leadership is incredibly important, and for them to be recognised publicly in front of everyone is a great opportunity for them.”
