Baksh, a former coach at Picola United and player at Tongala, steered Northern Territory to victory against Glenelg in the weekend's representative clash.
Comprised of the Northern Territory Football League's star performers — as well as a host of GV talent — the NT outfit stormed to a 9.12 (66) to 6.6 (42) victory.
Baksh, who coaches NTFL powerhouse club Nightcliff, said it was a honour to coach the NT's first representative clash since 2006.
“It was a great opportunity, I was very fortunate to coach a great group of players and coach beside a good group of coaches,” Baksh said.
“I was really honoured (to be coach) and I loved the experience.
“I'm proud of what I've been able to achieve, first with Nightcliff, and now with the rep team.”
Wet conditions at Darwin's TIO Stadium made for a tough slog in the men's and women's matches.
Nathalia products Reni Hicks and Gemma Cusack featured in the women's 5.5 (35) to 1.1 (7) victory.
Shepparton's Tom Boyd and Tongala gun Cam Ilett were joined by former Shepparton United players Daniel Bowles and Brodie Filo in Baksh's line-up.
Ilett, a champion of NT football, captained the team and was awarded best afield after the win.
And Tatura's Sam Wood featured in the umpiring ranks for the match.
“We were very happy to get the win in the end,” Baksh said.
“It was a fairly tight contest at half-time, but my message to the group was to just try and keep the pressure on them in the second half.
“I knew our fitness was going to hold up and the boys dug in deep and got over the line.”
Baksh will now turn his attention to the rest of the NTFL premier season with Nightcliff.
Following the historic grand final win in 2019, which broke a 54-year premiership drought for Nightcliff, Baksh's troops have been the gold standard in the competition.
The Tigers went back-to-back last year and after 14 rounds of the current season, they sit in top spot and on the charge for a third straight flag.
“We have been playing some good footy,” Baksh said.
“I've been really happy with how Tom Boyd and Adam Jorgensen have performed up here for us. They are two Picola boys as well and it's nice to have that connection with them.
“I'm a big fan of it (seeing GV products play in NTFL), it's an amazing experience for them. I actually think the quality of football has risen this year which is great.”
