Urana Caravan Park caretakers Daniel and Laura Fell lost their newborn daughter Mackenzie earlier in the year after she put up a strong fight to a number of birth ailments.
Due to the incredible care Mackenzie, Laura and Daniel received from the Special Care Nursery of Wodonga Hospital, Daniel and Laura decided to give back by raising what money they could by collecting and cashing in cans.
Urana Vintage Machinery Committee donated all their cans and at last count there were eight Otto (marked for charity) bins full of cans. That was until some selfish person helped themselves to all the cans.
A post was put up on Facebook and Corowa resident Nathan Newson approached one of the persons sharing the post and kindly donated $200, plus three large garbage bags full of cans. Corowa, Howlong and Urana Police who all know the Fells also threw in cash and cans.
"Most importantly, we are going to all lengths to catch this person as it is not what this community is about," Sergeant Marshall said.
Murray River Police are appealing to anyone who has knowledge of this person or witnessed the cans being taken to ring either Corowa, Urana or Mulwala Police or Crimestoppers on 1800333000.
“Further, Police understand this fund raiser is all part of the healing process for Daniel and Laura and we encourage any of our clubs, pubs and general public to kick a couple of cans Daniel and Laura's way,” Sgt. Marshall concluded.
