In partnership with local health and community services, the council will host a free breakfast with guest speakers and live music.
Cohuna District Hospital clinical services' director Wendy Lunghusen will be part of the presentation, as will Koondrook indie rocker Elise Drake.
Council chief executive officer Geoff Rollinson said both Wendy and Elise are examples of local women leading in their chosen careers.
“Their stories will celebrate the achievements of local women, inspire discussion and send a positive message to women and girls across our communities as we continue to work towards a gender equal future,” he said.
Mr Rollinson said Gannawarra is renowned for its IWD celebrations, and has celebrated the day for the past eight years.
The day gives local women the chance to share their stories of community leadership, business development and career advancement in a supportive environment, he said.
This year’s IWD theme is ‘March Forward: It’s Time to Turn Promises into Progress.’
The event starts at 7.30am on Friday, March 7, at Morton Garner Pavillion in Cohuna Recreation Reserve, and bookings are essential.
To book, visit www.trybooking.com/CZHXW or phone council on 5450 9333 by Monday, March 3.
