Bendigo Bank has donated more than $22,000 to Shepparton FoodShare through its Greater Shepparton Connected Communities tagged account program.
The bank's state manager for regional Victoria, Justine Minne, said the funds were fast tracked to help Shepparton FoodShare deal with a huge increase in demand for its services both during, and immediately after the end of the September COVID-19 lockdown.
“As demand for Shepparton FoodShare’s services remains high, we hope this additional funding will help the organisation to continue to meet this demand in the coming weeks and provide more fresh food and vegetables - as well as meat and protein - for those who need it most,” Ms Minne said.
Shepparton FoodShare operations co-ordinator Grace Grieve said the charity was extremely grateful for Bendigo Bank's support.
"It came at a time when our community was in crisis and we had unprecedented demand for our food.
“FoodShare receives no regular funding, therefore this support helped to keep the doors of our critical food relief service open during this crisis period.
“The donation also enabled us to purchase food staples that were in short supply and it will continue to assist as we are in the midst of another lockdown, putting further pressure on our community and our service,” Ms Grieve said.
