Held directly following Edward River Council’s Community Christmas Party this Friday, the evening in the Deniliquin Waring Gardens will feature music from well known local musicians and few you might be yet to discover.
Rotary president and long-time Carols by Candlelight coordinator George Maddison said there will be something for everyone.
“We’ll have a number of youth bands - primary school band Groovy Dudes and high school bands The Next Big Thing and The Rusty Eyeballs.
“We’ll also have Con Spirito Voices, Zara Lindeman, Ruby Saltbush and the Edward River Concert Band.
“Relatively new Deniliquin resident and new member of Ruby Saltbush Dennis Ellen will also perform.
“And of course we’ll be having Santa make an appearance too.”
Mr Maddison said part of the evening will draw attention to the Rotary focus this year, which is to ‘say no to domestic violence and child abuse, and yes to positive relations’.
With the tradition of open flame candles now discouraged, electronic candles will be sold on the night.
Proceeds from the sales will go toward Rotary programs.
The carols program will begin about 7pm, but the fun in the Waring Gardens will kick off at 4pm.
The Edward River Community Christmas Party party will feature free and fun activities for the kids with face painting, balloon animals, Christmas crafts, jumping castle and even a special guest appearance from Santa Claus.
The lights of the community Christmas tree will also be officially switched on as part of the evening’s activities.
Bring a rug, have a picnic and enjoy local fare from the food and beverage stalls so you don’t miss out on any of the fun while trying to keep the family fed.
