Organisers encourage people to come dressed in bright, festive outfits, and to bring chairs, cushions and rugs to allow for a comfortable evening.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe credited the community for ensuring the event went ahead.
“The spirit of the event has always been to bring the community together — our community has stayed strong through the year, supporting one another and keeping each other safe,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“Now is the time to safely celebrate everyone’s hard work and achievements for the year, be together in-person or online with friends and family and wish for a happy and prosperous new year.”
The event starts at 6.30pm and will be streamed online for residents to watch at home.
Food vendors will be at the event.
All those attending must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and show proof upon entry and check in through the Service Victoria app.
There will be no COVID-19 capacity limitations for this event, but attendees are encouraged to wear masks if they can’t socially distance.
