Assistance required: Tom Dumaresq, 82, is trying to find out how or where he can get his fathers 1890 Griswold Sock Machine repaired.
Earlier this month, The News published an article on the remarkable life of Tom Dumaresq, 82, and his tireless commitment to Shepparton, surrounding communities, and the world.

While interviewing Mr Dumaresq, he spoke of a sock machine he inherited from his father and how he would love to get it up and running again.
The sentimental piece brings back fond memories for Mr Dumaresq of his father’s dedication to raising him and his siblings after their mother died when he was four-and-a-half.
“Dad used to sit there of a night knitting all us kids socks on it,” Mr Dumaresq said.
“I don’t really know why I remember it so much, but I do.
“He was a very hardworking, kind man who always did so much for us and others.”
The Griswold Sock Machine was built in about 1890 in England and Mr Dumaresq believes it is rare.
“I know a bit about the history of the machine, but now it’s missing parts,” he said.
“And I can’t remember how to start the process of knitting a sock – it’s been a long time.”
The machine is missing an O-ring and a wool support that allows the wool to come through constantly without tangling.
The device clamps onto the edge of a table and operates by a turning handle.
If anyone knows where Mr Dumaresq could get the sock machine fixed or of someone who could help re-teach him how to kick off the sock-making process once fixed, please email cecily44@bigpond.com
Mr Dumaresq will kindly knit those able to help a pair of socks to keep your feet warm.
