During COVID-19, the company had to pull all advertising but when the world calmed down, it decided to put that money towards supporting sports teams.
“We said to all our guys here that work for us, if you’ve got a sporting club that you play for, we’re happy to put our money into that,” CAF Consulting managing director Leigh Findlay said.
Gators player Tom Frame put his hand up and the organisation has sponsored the team ever since.
Mr Findlay said one of the most integral parts of being at the Gators’ games was seeing the crowd work of the players.
“What I like about it is the connection that it creates from the players to the kids,” he said.
“They really look up to the Big V Gators and I think participation has increased quite a few since that Gators team has been running, and it’s not a direct link, but I reckon it’s a big part of it.”
CAF Consulting has also been a big supporter of the Underdog documentary, which premieres on Thursday, November 21.
“It’ll be great to see the doco,” Mr Findlay said.
“When we were told what they’re going to film and this is what the Gators have done coming through from Division One last year and winning that and then to finish virtually in finals in the Championship league, it’s a really, really good effort.”
Mr Findlay said this wouldn’t be the final year CAF Consulting sponsored the team.
“We’ll continue to get behind it, and we’re happy to see how they go,” he said.
