As the summer sun burns brighter and the air grows drier, state Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad urges residents to prioritise fire preparedness.
“It’s vital that everyone takes steps to protect themselves, their families, and their properties from the risk of bushfires and grassfires,” she said.
“I encourage local residents to prepare fire plans, clear vegetation around homes, and stay updated on local fire warnings.”
Additionally, CFA has shared essential tips for safe practices during this high-risk period.
Their recommendations stress the importance of taking proactive measures on hot, dry, and windy days when the fire danger rating is extreme or catastrophic.
CFA suggests leaving early on such days, making arrangements in advance for your pets and horses, sharing your plans with loved ones, and not waiting for official warnings to take action.
To stay informed, Ms Broad encourages tuning in to ABC local radio or other designated radio stations and being aware of contacts for services.
