Regional health services from Echuca, Cohuna and Kyabram united to undertake a pilot leadership program that focused on developing leadership attributes among aspirational and emerging leaders in healthcare.

The course, which was led by GOTAFE, encouraged 15 health professional managers and personnel to connect with their unique leadership strengths and enhance their current skill set.
The course content was developed and directed to include existing and emerging leaders who are looking to build on their management skills while establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships in the rapidly changing health service environment.
Echuca Regional Health’s People and Culture executive director Angela Hussey said the Emerging Leadership Program aligned with ERH’s long-term strategic plan to mentor and coach staff into positions of leadership.
“This program aligns with ERH’s plan to build leadership excellence while supporting the personal growth and development of our staff,” Ms Hussey said.
Kyabram District Health Service’s Raelene Maskell said that since undertaking the Emerging Leaders course, she had a newfound sense of confidence in herself and her capabilities.
“This program has enabled me to realise that I am a valued person within our organisation and I do have the potential to help my team in achieving our goals,” Ms Maskell said.
ERH will be facilitating another Emerging Leadership Program in August, with a date yet to be set.
