Bowel cancer testing kits available

Rotary is targeting people under 50 as they are currently ineligible to receive the government’s own test kit program.

Bowel cancer occurs when abnormal cells in the wall of the large bowel grow in an uncontrolled way.

Cancer Australia predicts more than 17 000 cases of bowel cancer will occur nationally this year, which will make it the second most diagnosed cancer in the country.

Bowel cancer screening involves testing people before the emergence of any symptoms with the aim of discovering the presence of abnormal cells before they spread beyond the bowel wall.

Regular annual testing is the key to the early detection of bowel cancer and the Rotary Club of Seymour urges all community members to participate in this vital project.
