Launched by The SEED Project in March 2024, Women’s Wardrobe is a Seymour Community Investment Committee initiative that has, so far, offered assistance to over 20 women.
The initiative sets out to aid women living in Seymour and surrounding areas by providing them with access to free, quality clothing, which can be worn in both casual and professional settings.
The central aim of Women’s Wardrobe is to increase employment opportunities for women by providing confidence-building support and personal styling assistance.
Women’s Wardrobe Week is a SEED Project first.
Where Women’s Wardrobe is usually open for one day fortnightly, Women’s Wardrobe Week will see it open for four days straight, providing ample opportunity for women to gain access to a wide range of clothing items.
From Monday, February 10 to Thursday, February 13, women in the Seymour area will be able to book an appointment or drop in from 10am to 2pm each day.
Looking back on the history of Women’s Wardrobe thus far, SEED project manager Penny Bohm said the initiative had offered valuable support to women in the area.
As an example, Penny brought up a success story of a woman who was provided with boots that she urgently needed for training at a new job.
In this instance, Women’s Wardrobe was able to give the necessary support needed to nurture career success and confidence.
“It’s an amazing resource we’ve been able to offer women in Seymour and surrounds,” Penny said.
“It’s one less thing they need to worry about finding the money for, which could be a barrier to them getting employment opportunities.”
For four days, The SEED Project will provide free access to quality clothing in order to foster confidence and success in the workplace.

Located at the Mitchell Shire Recovery Hub on Guild St in Seymour, Women’s Wardrobe will go back to its usual fortnightly schedule from February 24, open every second Monday from 10am to 2pm for drop-in sessions or by appointment.
Penny said, however, that the Wardrobe could be accessed on a need basis, whereby if a woman contacted SEED with an urgent request, arrangements could be made for them to obtain resources outside operating hours.
The initiative will also be available for women with requirements other than needing items for fostering career success.
“Any woman that’s in need of clothing, we’re happy to help,” Penny said.
Before Women’s Wardrobe Week kicks off on February 10, donations can be made at the SEED Project Hub, at 47 Anglesey St, Seymour, from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, or at the Mitchell Shire Recovery Hub, at 4 Guild St, Seymour, from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Specifically, The SEED Project has put up a call-out for business suits/blazers, dress pants/skirts, blouses/corporate shirts, workplace-appropriate dresses, appropriate casual wear, and attire specific to the agricultural/rural workplace, hospitality, the healthcare sector, retail and office jobs, and the construction and trades industry.
For further employment support, The SEED Project will be offering its Employment Workshop on Tuesday, February 18, and two three-hour Fair Share workshops on March 20 and 27.
