With a huge array of events and amazing local attractions to explore, paired with pleasant weather predictions, people are expected to flock for the festivities.
Edward River Mayor Ashley Hall said the community is already reaping the benefits of the school holiday period.
And he said, by all accounts, businesses are expecting a very strong Easter long weekend.
“As we already know, Easter is one of the pinnacle long weekends for our region,” Cr Hall said.
“There’s a great number of events organised by our council and our community groups, of which the Deniliquin Easter Art Show and Deniliquin Rodeo are expected to be highlights.
“There will also be a few sporting events on too, which just adds to the weekend.
“The Victorian visitors are already flooding into the local caravan parks, so the area is already having a bonanza period.
“With New South Wales just starting their holidays too, we can expect it to feed into Anzac Day as well.”
Cr Hall said all Deniliquin’s caravan parks seem to have solid bookings already, which he expects will only grow as Easter draws nearer.
He said this has resulted in a busy CBD as well.
Cr Hall said it’s been pleasant to note that Deniliquin is appealing to a large cross section of holidaymakers - young families, older families and even empty nesters and ‘grey nomads’.
“The retailers and hospitality providers are really looking forward to Easter, I’m sure.
“And the town looks great for all our visitors; hats must go off to the council staff who have been working on that.
“We certainly seem to have become a destination for those touring around the country, with some great attractions, quality accommodation providers and great camping spots by the river putting us on the map.”
