More than 30 locals came together on Friday to take part in a youth basketball match in honour of Reconciliation Week last week.

Organised in collaboration with Deniliquin Police, Deniliquin Stadium and Local Aboriginal Land Council, those who attended were treated to an evening of basketball games, followed by a barbecue dinner.

Deniliquin Police Aboriginal liaison officer Sean Owen said the event was a great success.

“We had a great turnout and everyone had lots of fun,” said Mr Owens.

“The evening was about getting together to play some friendly games of basketball, but more importantly to celebrate and recognise our indigenous history and culture.”

Local kids got together on Friday to play some ball and pay their respects in honour of Reconciliation Week.
