Barmah Muster finds new home

About 900 people attended the first Barmah Muster held outside the Barmah Forest earlier this month.

Barmah Forest Cattleman’s Association president John Paterson said the weekend — held over April 29, 30, and May 1 — was a success.

“We had a full book of entries, and we had nearly 900 people come,” he said.

The weekend also managed to raised about $5000 for community groups and charities.

“We donate the money to places like the Wyuna Community Hall and the CFA,” Mr Paterson said.

Held at the Barmah Pony Club, it was the first time the muster was held outside the Barmah Forest.

Long-time attendee Doug Rosenow said the muster was part of tradition.

“It’s a tradition we’ve had for the last 200 years,” he said.

“It’s part of our heritage of being in the bush.”
