Astrobrendy | The Andromeda Galaxy

The Andromeda Galaxy is the closest large spiral galaxy to ours. At 2.5 million light years, it's the most distant thing we can see with the unaided eye. In a dark site, you should be able to see a smudge of distance light larger than the moon. In four billion years, our Milky Way galaxy will collide with the Andromeda Galaxy which will cause them to change shape and merge into a larger galaxy. I shot this image at Dookie over a year ago. I hope you like it. To follow Brendan O’Keeffe’s photography online, head to his Facebook page by searching for Brendan O’Keeffe Astrophotographer, or on Instagram @astrobrendy.
