Gallery Shop exhibitor for December Edie Black will headline the afternoon with her presentation Enchantment and Relationships to Land, discussing cultural and sensory ways of understanding her obsession with landscape.
Ms Black is a multidisciplinary artist with more than 20 years’ experience. Her mediums span photorealist painting, textiles and public installations.
Her jewellery practice draws from ancient blacksmithing and armoury techniques and is concerned with the Australian landscape, and the ways in which we attach value.
Ms Black said she was the only artist in the world fusing 24 karat gold with steel and iron.
“A technique I was told was impossible,” she said.
“Each piece is unique and cannot be replicated.”
Ms Black has pledged 25 per cent of proceeds from any items sold to the Tommorrow Today Foundation for “12 Days of Christmas” between December 7 and 19.
She will also be offering all customers a five per cent discount.
Ms Black’s presentation will be immediately followed by the Gallery Shop Soirée, where 2022’s previous Gallery Shop exhibitors will come together to present their latest work, which will all be available for purchase.
This will be a lovely opportunity to meet the artists face to face in a relaxed setting, and to find unique, locally made Christmas gifts.
Featured artists include Pauline Fraser, Maggie Hollins, North East Basketmakers, Juliet Ferguson, Joan Mullarvey, Lorna Hobbs, Susie Buykx, Melanie Ball (Appliquez Moi), Mel Dosser (The Papered Tree) and Bill Harris (Birds in Focus).
Guests will be treated to refreshments and can take advantage of an additional 10 per cent off selected shop items. There is also an additional 10 per cent discount for gallery members.
