Medico puts pen to paper
Former Kyabram medico Dr Peter O’Brien has put pen to paper and written his first book.

It’s titled The Gift Of Tears and recounts Dr O’Brien's life journey up to the time he left Kyabram in 1984.
Dr Peter O’Brien met Mother Teresa in 1981.

It’s an Amazon Books publication and can be obtained from the Amazon website.
Dr O’Brien will also feature in another publication, Kyabram’s Drs Of Endurance which will is to be published shortly.

Is it Kyvalley or Ky Valley?
This matter was raised again by a racing fan who had observed a race at last Friday’s meeting at Terang that was sponsored by the Kyabram based Ky Valley Daries.
Yes it should have been Kyvalley Daries.
It’s Kyvalley not Ky Valley.

Kyvalley residents Bev Williams and Maree Clark put the record straight many years ago when researching the history of Kyvalley for their publication, And They Called It Kyvalley.
A farmer in the district at the time, Ned Edwards, is credited with naming it Kyvalley and not Ky Valley.
First trace of KyvaLley appeared in the Deakin Shire rate book of 1912.
Before that, it was known as Tongala South.
Contrary to beliefs, it was not named because it was a nearby valley of Kyabram.
It is thought its name was derived from the fact it was an area between two sandhills in the district ... one on McEwen Rd just north of the Kyabram North Boundary Rd intersection and a sandhill near the former Kyvalley school on Scobie Rd.
Anglers fined
Six anglers got well and truly hooked for illegal fishing practices after being sprung recently on the Edward River between Deniliquin and Moulamein.
Acting on information from Fishers Watch tip line NSW Fisheries officers conducted a bust and allegedly discovered a large quantity of fish, including mostly undersized Murray cod and silver perch in illegal fish traps.
As a result, fines totalling $5000 have been issued.
We more to fall
Still no rain. Well, that not quite right.
On February 14, 0.4mm was registered, the first rain since 0.2mm on February 4.
With only 18mm registered in January, Kyabram’s rainfall for 2025 is just 18.6mm.

It is a small brown and white shaggy haired terrier type that tends to bark quite a lot.
