The athlete has just returned home after competing at the Australian Athletics Championships at the Western Australia Athletics stadium in Perth.
After winning gold in the 11 year boys high jump at the PSSA Athletics National Championships in December through school athletics, Levi was this time representing NSW and Finley Little Athletics, competing in the national 13 years men’s high jump.
Levi’s mother, Ashley Jakeman, said while again a national competition, it was another step up.
“This time it was outside of school sports and was through Athletics Australia and NSW Athletics,” she said.
“It was a different level of competition to what he’s experienced before.
“It definitely had a very professional feeling.”
Moama solar farm powers up
After eight months of construction, the Moama Solar Farm was officially opened on April 3.
The building project started last year in late August and is one of four solar farms being built by Clean Peak energy in NSW.
During the opening ceremony, Aunty Vicki Walker led the group in a Welcome to Country.
Murray River Council Mayor John Harvie and CleanPeak chief executive Philip Graham then shared some words about the project.
Mr Graham said the solar farm will benefit Moama.
“The solar farm itself has more than 12,000 panels, so it’s not a massive solar farm.
“We’ve got power now, so we’re pumping out power now, as we speak, so it’d be great to power a new community building or something like that from the solar farm,” he said.
Bridging the gaps in Greater Shepparton
Positioned between two major north-south and east-west arterial roads — the Goulburn Valley Hwy and the Midland Hwy — Greater Shepparton’s position as a national freight and logistics hub is ingrained.
But poor road conditions, flooding and population growth are providing challenges for all road users.
Greater Shepparton City Council, as part of its Federal Government Priorities 2025/26 document, has announced its pursuit of a Greater Shepparton Road Network Resilience Package.
With the loss of the $208 million bypass funding and a further $130 million cut from the Roads of Strategic Importance, now is the time to improve the regional road transport network by delivering these road infrastructure projects.
“Our community needs better road infrastructure and improved connectivity in and around Greater Shepparton,” City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali said.
