The flyer Geoff Baker found in his mailbox encouraged parents and families to “get informed about COVID vaccination for kids”.
Mr Baker’s wife has been in and out of hospital with complications from COVID-19 with the latest stint for numerous weeks as a result of her kidneys collapsing.
“Everything that could possibly go wrong is going wrong,” Mr Baker said.
“Every time they get on top of something they find something else, which is apparently the way COVID works.”
Mr Baker and his wife, who are fully vaccinated, picked up the virus through Mr Baker’s work.
Not only has he personally been impacted, Mr Baker said a former colleague and their spouse died with COVID-related illness.
“I’m very annoyed with this person skulking around dropping this in mailboxes, there’s no name, no phone number,” he said.
“If they want to come around and knock on my door, hand it to me, that’s fine – but sticking it in the mailbox I think that’s a bit sneaky and sly.
“Everyone’s entitled to their opinion but please, keep it to yourself – don’t push it on to everybody else.”
The flyer does not have any attribution however it is available for download on the Parents With Questions website.
According to its website, Parents With Questions is a “bunch of parents with curious minds who want to make sure we have all the information about COVID vaccinations for our kids”.
“Children have a near-zero risk of dying from COVID,” the flyer states.
“Despite this, massive efforts are underway to ensure every child is given the COVID injection.
At the bottom of the flyer are four QR codes linking to different websites relating to COVID-19 and vaccinations, including Parents With Questions.
During a visit to Shepparton in February, Victorian COVID-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar was asked about the flyers and urged people to do their research on clinical websites.
“I'm always concerned about any misinformation or factually incorrect information has been punted out there, whether it be on social media or in leaflets,” he said.
“Read around the subject but don't be taken in by misinformation and quite blatant untruths.
“Parents making informed decision are reassured by the fact that over 95 per cent of over 12-year-olds have had their vaccine.
“So over 95 per cent of parents have had the vaccine for themselves.”
