A man has been charged over an alleged string of burglaries and thefts from businesses in Murchison, Tatura, Kialla, Stanhope, Mooroopna and Byrneside.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Acting Sergeant Matt Clowes said police allege the man stole about 15 to 20 packets of cigarettes from the Ampol service station at Kialla on Wednesday, July 24.
He is also alleged to have attempted to break in to Tatura Watches and Diamonds in Tatura on Sunday, July 28.
About $6000 worth of damage was done to the shop window in this incident.
Avonlea Flowers at Murchison was allegedly targeted twice — in the early hours of Monday, July 29 and Thursday, August 1 — with an honesty cash box allegedly stolen.
Acting Sgt Clowes said the man had also been charged with a petrol drive-off from the BP service station in Mooroopna on July 12, while on July 20 he is alleged to have stolen several chocolate milks and Red Bull drinks from the Indigo Fuels service station at Byrneside.
Police allege the man also attempted to break in to two Stanhope businesses on July 21 — Angelo’s Pizza and Pasta and Knight’s Building Supplies.
A 30-year-old Katandra man has been charged with three counts of burglary, five counts of theft, three attempted burglaries and one count of criminal damage.
He will face Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in October.
