A world of miniature trains awaited the folk of Wunghnu and beyond on Saturday, June 18, and it did not disappoint.

The sun was shining down on the Wunghnu Recreation Reserve for the culmination of Moira Miniature Rail and the GV Rail Club’s Miniature Railway Spectacular.

Children, parents, grandparents and all in between came from as far as Melbourne to get on board the miniature train world.

Eight exhibits showcased miniature towns and train sets inside the reserve’s space while three trains took passengers up and down the 1.2km track.

Moira Miniature Rail president Laurie Kennedy said being the first pop-up event since 2019, the clubs were overwhelmed with the support.

“The day couldn’t have been better and it was all done within a month so it wasn’t just quick, it was bloody quick,” he said.

“It turned out just great.”
