Firefighters on the ground and in the air fought a grass and stubble fire at Dookie on Wednesday, December 20.
CFA firefighters were called to the fire in a paddock on the corner of New Dookie and Chateau Rds shortly after 1.30pm.
Firefighters from Dookie, Cosgrove-Pine Lodge, Currawa and Yabba North brigades fought the fire on the ground, with support from a firebombing helicopter.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, with some firefighters remaining on the scene for a further half an hour to ensure it was completely out.
VicEmergency released a ‘stay informed’ alert for the fire at 1.50pm, warning people that there was no threat to houses, but people in the area were urged to stay informed and monitor conditions.
The alert was later cancelled.
CFA District 22 commander Rohan Taylor said the district was lucky to have a pre-determined dispatch for the firebombing helicopter on days when the fire danger index reached 12.
This means that on these days, the helicopter receives the fire callout at the same time as the CFA units.
