About 30 Rural Fire Service firefighters across the Mid Murray Zone and 10 from other fire districts attended the Aviation Communication Evaluation (ACE) training held in Deniliquin at the weekend.
Mid Murray district officer Terry Campbell said it is unusual to get a training operation of that size this far out west.
"It was a unique training session, as we have never had one of this type here before.
“Due to our efforts we are now on a rotating roster, and we are due to hold one again in the coming years”.

Two single engine air tankers and a medium sized helicopter were used in demonstrations during training.
Firefighters were instructed on how to speak with the pilots, and directing them to the best position to extinguish a target blaze.
The training also covered how to get better coverage of the products used, and how to identify faults and ensure fires are kept as small as possible.
