Sub-branch president Paul Hartland said the Australian Defence Force had been in touch to offer assistance.
“We jumped at the chance,” Mr Hartland said.
“They sent over five soldiers and one officer. They have been a great help.
“And they are all volunteering their time.
“So we’d like to say a big thank you to the ADF and its members.”
Mr Hartland said he believed the fundraising was going well, but organisers will have a total figure after Remembrance Day.
“You can buy a badge or donate until November 11,” he said.
“We have stalls in Clarke St, on Bridge St outside the art shop (Carlisle Art) and Millers.
“And we are also selling them outside Micrenz Bakery (in the Woolworths car park) and outside Mitre 10.
“We would like to also thank everyone who has supported this year’s Poppy Appeal.
“The people of Benalla are always so generous.”
Mr Hartland and the RSL are preparing for the annual Remembrance Day service, which will be at the Benalla Cenotaph at 11am on November 11.
“The CFA will sound its siren at 11am, and the service will begin immediately after,” he said.
“All are welcome to attend. People can lay a wreath, and if you would like us to read out who you are or who you represent, let us know in advance.”
