A stunning photo of an Australian boobook owl features on the front cover of the 2025 Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority calendar.

The image, selected from more than 350 submitted in the community calendar photo competition, was taken by Richard Gregson of Numurkah.
The photo was taken at the Broken-Boosey State Park, north of Shepparton. The calendar includes a QR code of the boobook’s call.
The calendar is now available and features forest, river, mammal, fish, insect, bird and flower images from across the local landscape.
In addition to the photos, the calendar is jam-packed each month with information about the natural environment and actions we can all take to preserve and protect natural resources.

Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority project officer Janice Mentiplay-Smith said after almost two decades, the calendar continued to attract submissions from a wide variety of amateur photographers, who have captured the natural beauty of the catchment.
“Eighteen members of the public have had their photos selected for the 2025 calendar and of those, six are new contributors,” Ms Mentiplay-Smith said.
“The calendar photo competition continues to attract new interest from people who are out and about in nature with their camera, right across the catchment.
“Drone photography is proving popular in the entries and there’s a great aerial shot of the mid-Goulburn River included this time.”
The Broken Boosey Conservation Management Network Advisory Group assisted with content selection. Moira Shire Council and Greater Shepparton City Council are supporting partners.
The free calendar is available, while stocks last, for collection from the Goulburn Broken CMA office, 168 Welsford St, Shepparton. Drop in on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm or by appointment for other times.
