They are holding a special “Fashion Fantasia” parade with volunteer CAGS students modelling clothes from the Uniting Church Op Shop.
Other volunteer students will be helping with catering, announcing and descriptions of the clothes being showcased.
Event organiser Barbara White said the funds raised would go to support the church’s activities, but the event itself had a dual purpose.
“It is a fundraiser but it’s also just a fun night, and the money we raise will go to something, but at this stage we’re not sure,” Ms White said, although the funds will benefit the Uniting Church and the charities it supports and is involved in.
“The op shop will be open that night, so when the parade’s finished, they can all come in the shop and purchase anything that was in the parade.”
Ms White said the event presented a great opportunity for a social outing outside what was traditionally done.
“(Events like this) are very important in several aspects. People can get out and have something fun to go to, and they can bring their friends and just have a really nice night out,” she said.
The “Fashion Fantasia” show will take place in Irvin Hall, 4 Hay Ave, Cobram, on Wednesday, June 8, from 7pm.
A meal will be provided on the night and door prizes will be up for grabs.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children (cash only) under 12 years and can be purchased at the Uniting Church Op Shop or at the CAGS admin office.
Tickets must be purchased by June 4 for catering purposes.
