Resilience in Recovery has partnered with Undera Recreation Reserve to create Undera the Stars — a food and music event.
Undera the Stars, which will take place in May, is one of many events Resilience in Recovery is helping to organise to assist communities in staying connected following the October 2022 floods.
The event will see food trucks, live music and activities for all ages spread across the reserve, with local sporting clubs even getting involved.
Undera Recreation Reserve president Brenton Campbell is helping organise the event in terms of sporting club involvement and the grounds.
“We’ve got the speedway doing a barbecue, the football club are doing drinks and refreshments, the cricket club will do a raffle, and the tennis club will do popcorn,” Mr Campbell said.
Mr Campbell said organisers were looking forward to the night, as events such as these played an essential role in connecting the community of Undera and its surroundings, especially following the hardships of the October 2022 floods.
“It’s a farming community, and we’ve got a lot of people here who back onto the Goulburn River and had some issues down there with the levy bank and floods,” he said.
“We’ve had a lot of community members rally together to help fix it up.
“Instead of giving up, we’ve all worked together as a team sandbagging, which we had a good turnout when the floods were on, so it’s nice to have these community events to get everyone back together.
“Little events like these can help support the town as well and get more people out.”
This event follows a Resilience in Recovery family movie night, which Mr Campbell said was a huge success.
“We had a great attendance, and from that night, a couple of other ideas were mentioned, and this was one of them, so we’re looking forward to seeing it come together,” he said.
“This could be an annual thing, so hopefully, we have a good turnout.”
Entertainment for the night will include local talents KB and Kitto, Madi Colville-Walker, The Wildings and Wildwood.
The event is on Saturday, May 11, from 6pm to 10pm at the Undera Recreation Reserve at 1915 Echuca Rd, Undera.
