Kristen Retallick has taken the reins of Shepparton Festival following creative director Jamie Lea and general manager Louise Tremper stepping down earlier this year.
Ms Retallick brings with her about two decades of experience in the arts, previously a working as curator and administration manager at rural gallery, The G.R.A.I.N Store.
“I look forward to commencing this role and the opportunity to take the Shepparton Festival in a new direction by building on the solid foundations already laid by the committee and outgoing operational team,” Ms Retallick said.
“I am dedicated to developing arts experiences that bring people to new places alongside fresh ways of thinking, seeing and feeling.”
Shepparton Festival chair Kirsten Green said the team was “delighted” to welcome Kristen onboard.
“Her work as an artist, producer, curator, leader and vanguard for community engagement signals the beginning of a new era for Shepparton Festival,“ she said.
“The committee is looking forward to supporting her to deliver enriching creative events and experiences for 2023’s festival and beyond.”
Ms Retallick will commence as festival director in August. Further information on next year’s festival, including expressions of interests and call to create submissions, will be released soon after Ms Retallick’s commencement.
