The early morning of Monday, May 2, saw the first day of celebrations take place for Eid al-Fitr, which marked the end of Ramadan at the GV Turkish Mosque.

The day started with a service and prayers led by Imam Recep Ay followed by joyous hugging and well wishes for Eid within the congregation.
After fasting throughout April, Turkish Mosque member Zafer Coskun was keen to see his family and share food together.
“We're all gonna go home and have big breakfasts now after a month of not eating and drinking throughout the day,” he said.
“Then we visit family members, the younger people visit the older people, we’ll go around and have sweets, teas, coffee and dinner and lunch. Then once you've done family, you go around and visit friends.”
For Mr Coskun and other Muslims, the act of fasting teaches about discipline and having compassion for those who are less fortunate.
Mr Coskun said this is what he hoped to teach his kids about Ramadan.
"It’s about discipline in the body and learning and feeling the need for food, basically,“ he said.
“There's a lot of people that don't get food around the world, we’re just feeling their pain a little bit.
“It’s also about learning how to come together as a cultural event as well.“
