Celebrating their fourth changeover since forming as a club in 2018, members were treated to a hearty lunch at the Corowa Golf Club with prizes, raffles and even guest speaker Kylie Witherden sharing about her new business Thrive in Sanger Street.
Outgoing president Nicky Ross who has served as president for two years, welcomed everyone to the occasion and remarked on the “fabulous” time she had as president.
“In the last twelve months, our membership grew by five, and we now have 42 members,” Ms Ross said.
“We raised $1600 at our Sean’s Two for Ten fundraiser for Cord Blood research, $15,90 at our Mother’s Day movie and pizza night, also for Cord Blood research.
“Unfortunately, two beautiful members passed away over the last 12 months- Dianna Newnham and Jabet McLean- a very sad and trying time for all.”
Ms Ross thanked her 2021/22 outgoing committee for their wonderful work over the last year.
“I would like to thank Colleen Batten (secretary), Chris Kent (treasurer), Jenny Doody (club correspondent), Lesley Starr (social convenor), Noreen Miller (international service), Gena Bednarski (club historian) and Tessa Crowe (cord blood co-ordinator),” she said.
“The dedication and service these ladies have put into our club despite another difficult year navigating through Covid, has been greatly appreciated.”
Ms Ross then proudly handed over the presidential collar to incoming president Chris Kent and thanked her for her support.
“Inner Wheel is in good hands,” she declared.
Ms Kent introduced her 2022/23 office bearers:
Secretary Suze Rogashoff, Treasurer Pam Arnold, Club Correspondents Jenny Doody, Social Conveynor Kay Blakeley, International Service Noreen Miller, Club Historian Roseann Prentice, Cord Blood Coordinator Margaret Playford.
“It will be hard to follow Nicky, but with the support of all members I am very much looking forward to the next year,” Ms Kent said.
Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s organisations in the world with three main objectives; to promote true friendship, encourage the ideals of personal service, and foster international understanding.
