The project will target the busiest travel and trade routes in the state, including Echuca-Mooroopna Rd, and the Goulburn Valley and Hume highways.
Substantial works are also planned for Heathcote-Rochester Rd between the Midland Hwy and Mustley Rd, Corop.
Ms Horne said $964 million will be pledged to the state’s roads, with around 70 per cent of funding allocated to regional Victoria.
Roadwork teams are expected to complete thousands of projects statewide, including resurfacing works, pothole patching, bridge maintenance, and traffic light and signage maintenance.
“We’re investing nearly a billion dollars to rebuild and repair the roads that Victorians depend on every single day — from the highways connecting our major centres to the local roads that keep our communities moving.
“Crews will be out delivering $2.6 million of works every day for a year,” Ms Horne said.
Most of the work will be undertaken over the next nine months as warm, dry conditions are necessary for major road rehabilitation.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes said improving the state’s road network was crucial to those in her electorate.
“Roads are the lifeblood of our community, and this blitz will mean smoother journeys for northern Victorian families and farmers,” she said.
The state’s roads have been classified based on expert advice and community feedback to ensure funding is delivered to where it’s most needed.
Flood-damaged roads will be given maintenance priority, with a list of flood recovery projects to be confirmed in the coming months.
