The fingerlings were funded by club fund raising events such as the Corowa Anglers Club Annual Bowls Day held in March, community raffles and local community support.
It was co-funded by the Department Primary Industries & Regional Development’s $2 for $1 Native Fish Stocking Program.
Corowa Anglers Club thanked all its sponsors and volunteers who donated to this great cause.
The fingerlings were raised by Tara Native Fish Hatchery who are located just outside Corowa, making it a real local community effort.
Over the last 10 years Corowa Anglers Club have released over 150,000 Murray Cod and Golden Perch into the Murray River around Corowa ensuring that local anglers are having a positive impact on the local native fish population for years to come.
Anglers, both locals and visitors are seeing the benefits of stocking with increased catches of native fish in the Corowa and Mulwala area.
