Senior Visual Arts teacher Amanda Bourke said the Art Show would acknowledge and celebrate the diverse range of skills from the school’s students over the past year.
“This is the first time we have had an Art Show in four years, and both myself and the junior Visual Arts teacher, Hayley Trotter, felt it was important to have one to showcase our students’ amazing artistic skills,” Mrs Bourke said.
“While we are proud of the school’s sporting achievements, we thought it would be a great opportunity to showcase the students’ work with an artistic streak.”
The Art Show has already garnered positive reviews from visitors who have seen the displayed works.
“All our corridor walls have been adorned in beautiful artwork, and we have had so many compliments already with how wonderful it all looks,” Mrs Bourke said.
The Art Show will feature a range of artworks using different mediums, including water paint and felt materials.
Mrs Bourke said live music would also form part of the proceedings.
“Performing Arts will also be showcased with our Jam Band and Drumbeat students performing for some of the Art Show,” Mrs Bourke said.
“We also have a raffle, with local artists Gretl Schiller and Desrae Atkinson kindly donating a painting each for prizes. Tickets will be $1 each,” Mrs Bourke said.
“The school would like to invite family, friends and the community to come and appreciate the artwork, with well over 1,000 pieces on display!”
While the school wanted to celebrate the many distinctive achievements of the school body, it is also an opportunity for families to consider the education facility when enrolling their students next year.
The 208 Primary School Art Show will be held on Thursday, November 9 from 3.30pm to 6pm.
