On Sunday, August 8 Premier Daniel Andrews announced nine vaccination hubs including GV Health-run Kilmore and Mansfield would be able to expand their eligibility in administering the AstraZeneca vaccine.
But GV Health COVID-19 vaccination program medical lead Helen Roberts said as of Monday, August 9 the GV Health COVID-19 McIntosh Centre vaccine hub in Shepparton and its COVID-19 vaccination sites at Cobram and Kyabram were also able to give 18 to 39 year olds the AstraZeneca jab with informed consent.
Dr Roberts said there was "no limitation" on GV Health's current supply of AstraZeneca and anyone looking to receive an AstraZeneca vaccine would be able to book in.
"The GV Health COVID-19 vaccine program has bookings available for COVID-19 vaccinations," she said.
"These bookings are now also open to the 18 to 39 year old age group.
"Our experienced immunisers at our vaccination sites are able to talk to you about the benefits of vaccination and can help to address any questions that you may have.'
ATAGI has advised two doses of AstraZeneca reduces the risk of symptomatic infection by at least 67 per cent and reduces the risk of hospitalisation by 92 per cent.
“Given the current outbreak in Victoria, and recent advice from ATAGI, we’re expanding access to the vaccines we have available so Victorians can get vaccinated to protect themselves, their loved ones and their community," Mr Andrews said on Sunday.
“More than 1.7 million vaccine doses have been administered at Victorian vaccination centres and we want to see that number continue to climb - vaccination is our only way out of this pandemic.”
