COVID-19 restrictions hit sport and recreation clubs hard and the Community Sports Sector COVID-19 Short-term Survival Package aims to support the more-than three-million Victorians involved in community sport.
Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said the government was getting behind 12,000 clubs and associations in the state because getting back on the field or court was important to so many Victorians.
“Sport and recreation across Greater Shepparton is an integral part of our community and this support will help clubs pay the bills and make an eventual return to play that little bit easier,” he said.
“As we continue to emerge from coronavirus restrictions and safely return to play, we are ensuring community sport and active recreation organisations come back stronger than ever - which is critical to our economic and social recovery.”
This comes after the recent announcement of Victoria's roadmap to COVID-normal, with the government signalling the first major steps in the return of community sport in the state.
