This comes as Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews praised almost 5000 people across the Goulburn Valley for being tested since Wednesday in today's press conference.
Of Wednesday's tests, almost 96 per cent have been returned, with all recording negative results.
"The balance of those were taken yesterday and we’ll get those results later on today and into the evening and we’ll report those to you tomorrow," Mr Andrews said.
"But on 40 per cent roughly of those tests, we’ve had no positive cases."
Thousands have been tested for the virus across Greater Shepparton since three new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the region late Tuesday.
But the Premier said Shepparton's virus scare likely wouldn't prevent regional Victoria from significantly easing restrictions on Sunday.
While it's still unclear what Sunday's changes will entail, the Premier confirmed the border between regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne would remain.
In a press conference on Thursday, Mr Andrews said he had spoken to Prime Minister Scott Morrison Wednesday morning about further galvanising Victoria's 'ring of steel'.
This includes plans to enlist additional ADF support to strengthen the border.
"Those border checkpoints to keep Melbourne and regional Victoria separated will give us some options in regional Victoria that we otherwise wouldn't have," he said.
"I am confident that as these numbers continue to come down ... we'll finish up with that million regional Victorians able to travel that much more freely and indeed people from New South Wales and South Australia being able to come into regional Victoria.
"Having the greatest level of confidence possible that only those who absolutely need to go to regional Victoria and have a lawful reason to do so ... (we) can make possible on Sunday some further easing in regional areas."
The Premier lauded Greater Shepparton's quick actions in battling the latest coronavirus scare.
"It makes you proud to see a community come together … with a sense of purpose to defeat this second wave and to take control of this virus," he said.
"Indeed, the entire Shepparton community should be very proud.
"On Sunday, I very much look forward to giving people a sense of what the coming weeks will look like."
