Woman and child die in Sydney house fire, four injured

Fire crews extinguished the blaze which caused extensive damage to the home.

Police and fire crews recovered the bodies of a 46-year-old woman and a six-year-old girl inside.They have yet to be formally identified. 

Eight other people – four children and four adults – were inside the house but escaped the blaze.

Paramedics treated them at the scene.

One girl was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital and remains in a critical condition.

A man was taken to Concord Hospital in a critical condition, while a second child and a second man were taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Police have established a crime scene and will prepare a report for the coroner.
